I qualified as an orthopedic shoemaker at the company ERGON in 1974. Over the course of my long career, I have worked for several organizations—including Ergon, Divadelní služba, Služby Karlovy Vary, Snaha Karlovy Vary, and Baťa—before becoming self-employed in 1993. I also worked at the Barrandov Studios. Today, I offer potential customers the creation of bespoke men’s footwear—ranging from classic luxury and orthopedic styles to specialized designs based on the client’s wishes, such as military boot replicas. From 2001 until March 2016, I served as a court-appointed expert on footwear quality and repair standards (a role I stepped down from due to a heavy workload and a reluctance to travel across the country for court appearances). Nevertheless, clients can still commission me to provide an expert assessment of footwear quality—for instance, in cases where a retailer has rejected a warranty claim—under the scope of my current business activities (which include advisory and consulting services and the preparation of professional studies and expert reports).
